TOKYO, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday, tracking losses on Wall Street overnight, with investors keenly eyeing the U.S. presidential debate set to begin this morning.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 30.88 points, or 0.13 percent, from Tuesday to 23,508.22.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 4.55 points, or 0.27 percent, at 1,653.55.
Mining, oil, and coal and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
